LLE: How to make it work

Copy of Kirstie Donnelly_edited.jpg

This event explored the evolving Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), its implementation challenges, and complementary solutions to make lifelong education accessible and effective. Simone Bolshaw (DfE) provided policy updates, confirming that while the LLE rollout will take time, flexibility and modular study will be central. Professor Annabel Kiernan (Goldsmiths) and Mark Morrin (LEI) examined the potential of Adult Skills Accounts, advocating for a co-funded model to ease financial burdens on learners. Jill Cowley (DMU) shared practical insights on modular learning, aligning education with local workforce needs. Panelists debated employer contributions, micro-credentials, and ways to stimulate demand. With strong cross-party support, the LLE is set to reshape lifelong education, but additional funding mechanisms will be key to ensuring success.
