As CEO of FISSS, Fiona is helping to reset skills policy, and to ensure that industry is seen as a strategic partner in the design and delivery of an effective skills eco-system. Fiona was previously Head of Insight and Intelligence in the Economic Delivery, Skills and Communities Directorate at West Midlands Combined Authority, responsible for developing evidence-led employment and skills policy and programmes in the WMCA area. She played a key role in negotiating the skills, careers and employment support elements of WMCAs recent Trailblazer Devolution Deal, with an ambition of creating an integrated employment and skills system for the region that will stimulate economic growth and deliver better outcomes for residents and businesses – and wprked with central government and regional stakeholders to implement this ambition.
Fiona has more than 20 years’ experience of undertaking research to support the development of policy and practice across adult learning, skills and employment. Before joining WMCA, Fiona was Director of Policy and Research at Learning and Work Institute.
