As a core pillar of the UK's Modern Industrial Strategy, the Digital and Technologies growth sector is vital to driving national productivity and economic resilience. However, realising this potential requires addressing a stark digital skills crisis. Globally and domestically, the digital skills gap currently costs the UK economy an estimated £63 billion annually in lost GDP, with roughly 52% of the workforce lacking foundational digital skills for work. Furthermore, intense shortages persist in advanced domains like AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics. To secure global competitiveness, the UK must bridge the gap between education and industry.
