Sheffield College

The Sheffield College is an award winning general further education college in South Yorkshire. Our mission is transforming lives through learning.

Our vision is to be a leader in technical and academic education, creating exceptional opportunities for the communities that we serve enabling them to realise their aspirations.

We provide academic, vocational, technical and professional qualifications to approximately 14,000 adults and young people a year. Around 8,000 are adult learners studying a range of qualifications from entry through to university level with opportunities to progress.

Our broad curriculum includes apprenticeships, vocational diplomas, A Levels, access courses and university level qualifications at four campuses and two centres in Sheffield. As the largest provider of apprenticeships in the city and region, there are approximately 2,500 college apprentices training with more than 1,000 employers.

Overall, the College works with around 2,700 employers and its economic impact regionally is approximately £282.5 million annually. Involving employers in the curriculum ensures our students develop the employability and technical skills to go further in their careers and have the industry-specific knowledge that our economy needs.

These strengths have been recognised with a raft of recent awards. The College was a finalist in two Association of Colleges Beacon Awards 2021/22 for its work on leadership and diversity and supporting refugees and asylum seekers back into learning and work.

A bronze winner in the BTEC College of the Year 2021 category of Pearson’s BTEC Awards, the College also won a NEON Award 2021 for widening access to higher education as well as an Edufuturist Award 2021 for its employer skills academies programme.
