About the Event
We’ll be exploring Tom’s new book, “Skills Policy in Britain and the Future of Work”. Looking back over the history of skills policy in England, what are the main lessons Tom would highlight? Did he find anything surprising or thought-provoking as he went back through the records and sifted through the evidence of what works and what doesn’t?
What’s his evaluation of the Labour government’s approach since last year’s general election - Skills England, the Growth & Skills Levy, and the new skills role being taken by the DWP? And taking a longer view, what are his thoughts on the future of work and the future of skills policy as we face up to the challenge of AI and other technological and social changes?
