Gareth Jon

Gareth is a qualified Chartered Accountant who has been involved in professional education in the accountancy and finance sector for 28 years. He is Policy Director for First Intuition, a national provider of apprenticeships and commercial programmes delivering skills in accountancy and leadership & management using classroom and online delivery models. Gareth has been involved with First Intuition since the very early days and has been a significant driver in the organisation’s growth to 25 delivery centres across the country and significant cohorts of distance learning students.


More recently, Gareth has been heavily involved in lobbying around key policy developments affecting the skills sector including Level 7 apprenticeships, shorter duration apprenticeships and the Lifelong Learning Entitlement.

Gareth is a member of the ICAEW Education & Training Board and the CBI Government Affairs Network, is co-lead of the IoD Education & Skills SIG and also chairs both the Financial, Accountancy and Legal sector forum of the AELP and the Skills Working Group of Cambridge Ahead. He has recently joined the UCAS Apprenticeship Stakeholder Advisory Group.
