West of England Combined Authority

West of England Combined Authority

The West of England Combined Authority was set up in 2017 to make decisions and investments that benefit people living and working in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Together, our aim is to deliver economic growth for the region and address some of our challenges, such as productivity and skills, housing and transport.

The Combined Authority brings together local employers, skills providers and other stakeholders to help residents to develop the skills they need to achieve their potential. It does this through a number of strategic programmes including the Adult Education Budget, aimed at helping people develop the foundational skills needed to secure decent jobs; Future Bright, which offers careers advice and guidance for people to improve their employment prospects and earnings potential; and the West of England Careers Hub which places advisers in every secondary school and college in the region, to inspire young people about future job opportunities.

The West of England Employment and Skills Plan sets out that by 2036, the region will be internationally recognised for its sustainable, inclusive and diverse economy, providing a high quality of life, prosperity and opportunities for all its residents. Our people will be skilled, healthy and able to access pathways of opportunity to achieve their potential.
